Everything is coming up JP

Don't you just love it when you have a weekend where Fri-Sun, everything is gonna rock?
On top of that, Mon- Thurs turn out to be not so bad either? Seriously how good can it be!

This weekend, we got (don't laugh) friday night, fast and furious 4 coming out, Vicki and I, being the car enthusiast that we is (grammer ftl), are gonna check it out of course.... sorry guilty pleasure, but what can I say?

Saturday brings the Toronto FC home opener, always an event! This year bringing so much promise on the pitch, and well, BMO Field has been my official Summer home the last 2 years that after a long winter, it feels good to be going back with friends watching the Reds!

Sunday night is the annual Wrestlemania get together, and well, being a long time Wrestling fan, its the 1 night where I gotta get my fix.

Okay not the best post but basically what I wanted to say is that it is weeks like this that make life good :D

finally! it hit me.

Last weekend my Finacee Vicki and I went up north to Vicki's home town North Bay for her best friend Tanya's wedding.

While the wedding was fantastic and a good time was had by all, as the speeches, tears and laughs came and went, it finally hit me that soon enough it will be our turn.

The engagement, booking the hall and church brought some excitment in the wedding planning and of course visions of what the day may be like, but being the first wedding we attended after the engagement, the sights sounds and smells certainly helped to fuel visions of what a hopefully beautiful mid summers night may bring.

Walking into the reception hall in a sharp tuxedo, with my beautful bride smiling, proud to call her my wife, friends and family welcoming us with a standing ovation, corny speeches, and tears of joy, a fantastic dinner and dancing to great music all night.

yeah, its weird coming from a guy envisioning his wedding day, but it is very real and it is truly exciting. Things offically kick off with our engagement party this coming sunday, and that is exciting, as many family and friends, some whom we seldom see will be in attendance. A time to catch up, renew aquaintances and look forward to a special evening that will be here in no time.

Corporate culture.... ugh. *rant warning.

Can I just say I hate it!

Back in school, I used to think that when I grow up.... the school yard bullshit would end. Boy was I wrong. The school yard bullshit has now become the corporate bullshit for me. Cliques gossip and backstabbing...... what is this? Melrose place (okay .... Im sure there is more recent references, but this works...its late, gimme a break).

For me its gotten to the point where I question the sincerity of everything from greetings to conversations.
The way people ask you how your weekend went as an intro to a question..... like shit, just ask the question already shit.

The recession(ZOMG!!! the world is ending) is driving me nuts, okay I understand times are tough, the fucking media force feeds this to us on a day to day basis. But you don't need to bring up the topic following every discussion about the workload. "at least we have a job"- my favourite line.... yes we have jobs, no question about it, yes I am thankfull, but dont use that to force feed more work to me, or make it acceptable to be swamped and have to stay late to get things done.

and Finally...." well we have to do whats best for the company" I love this especialy since I am on the bottom of the pecking order.

Life is less important than work, nevermind your kids, activites, loved ones, unless your taking a course, the company takes priority.

The dedication some people have for work is amazing, they put their lives on hold it get things done...... unbelievable. Yes, I am guilty of this too, but some people take it to the next level. If I've learned anything through all this, its that no matter how much time and effort you put into the organization you work for, if they want to let you go, they will.

Life is too short to spend pencil pushing and at a desk or whatever you do, don't forget the things that matter.

Oh When The Reds!

Winter couldn't end soon enough.

Next week marks the beginning of the Major League Soccer season. As a loyal supporter of Toronto FC, this couldn't come soon enough.

Combing message boards, blogs and rumour sites all winter, anticipating new signings, and of course, the new kit. I have been looking forward to going to BMO field 1 person among a sea of red, singing, drinking and cheering on our lads.

One by one, things fell into place. Local boys have come home to play for the Reds, the offence has been shored up, and the core had been re established. Watching the Impact play in the champions league, while for sure has been great for Canadian soccer, also leaves a bitter taste and much "what if" asking, not to mention flashbacks to the most painfull game to watch at BMO ever. Knowing that this year, the champions league is a must.

Well, after watching the Crew lift the MLS cup, and a long winter to follow, the time is near, the Supporters are mobilizing and the Tifo's are just about ready for Kansas City, Columbus and of course our Home Opener vs the new Seattle side.

Of course football fans have been treated to exciting champions league play, an amazing run up the premiership by Manchester United, not to mention an exciting end to the La Liga season and of course a little Golden Ball drama, for me, its not the same.

I mean I love watching football, and try to watch as much as I can on what little supply is offered by my Rogers package, but NOTHING beats heading down to BMO on match day, walking in to the grounds, grabbing a pint, seeing my friends and heading into 113 to sing and cheer on our lads to victory.

MLS is far cry from the premiership, but Toronto FC is my team, and its an amazing thing to watch a team from day one, and live the pain of defeat and the thrill of a win, and its only 8 days till game day, when my entire world stops for a few hours to see the reds go marching in :)

change will do you good.

Something that comes along from time to time.
change is good, really is it?

A lot of times this involves leaving a comfort zone. For a lot of people, that alone is too difficult to overcome.
The potential for change is also very exciting..... something new, something better....
or it can be scary. Going into the unknown, what will the future hold?

When things aren't going your way, is riding it out, holding on to what you know the best choice? Yes its the safest, but really is it whats best for you?

We sometimes convince ourselves that everything is okay, and this, the now is good.... but sometimes a swift kick to the ass to smarten up and do something about it or you will regret it is the better answer.

Something better is out there, and you just gotta go for it.
