I had a feeling... that tonights' gonna be a good night!

Okay I have to admit, I love that song.
.
Anyways, as soon as I left for work yesterday morning, it came on the radio, setting the tone for the day.

Last night was the final Nutrilite Canadian Championship match (mouthful eh), featuring TFC and The mpact. After the shit show a few weeks ago in Vancouver, I think every supporter knew that the best result tonight was best kept a dream (TFC had to win by 4+ goals in order to win the tournament and prevent vancouver from winning, thus entering the CONCACAF champions league).

The Mood on the supporter message forums was cautiously optimistic. We all thought TFC can and will win this game, BUT not by that large of a margin. Only once in our 3 year history had TFC won by 4 goals.... and TFCs recent struggles of finding the net made the task seem impossible.

But there was faith, and belief. Football stories of glory and comebacks had flooded media reports and message boards, sure it could be done but by this outfit?

The pain of so many letdowns lead the majority to believe that we could at least bow out of the tournament with an ass kicking to our favourite assholes.

Well, they did it, the unthinkable, the impossible, TFC won 6-1. Thats right, 6-1.

Lead by Dwayne Derosario, and Amado Guevera, TFC played their hearts out and got the result they needed.

Not too many times in the clubs short history you could say that, but now they were champions.

Seeing the reds jumping and celebrating was a thing of beauty. Jim Brennan accepting the Voyageuers Cup was simply awesome. I think the best way to describe this win was satisfaction.

3 years is not a long time, but if you've been following the club since day one, you knew of the many heart breaks and pains along the way. The bad times outweighed the good by far, for me this win meant a lot, it was important.

Sure I am not a member of TFC, but all season long, I ride the highs of wins and the lows of losses with the other supporters and players, driven countless hours to see them lose and lose bad. Witnessed broken goaless streaks, losing streaks, players coming and going, gut wrenching losses, and days you just feel gutted.

frustration, questioning players heart and ability... you name it.

But last night, none of that mattered. Seeing these guys celebrating, with true happiness and the delight they had in winning the Voyageurs cup, well its a small step but it was honestly the best night I've had as a TFC Supporter.....

You ride the tough times and for the countless number of gutted losses, frustration and anger, you live for that one moment, that feeling of Victory, Seeing heads held up high, cheers and celebration

This, is why they call it the beautiful game.

Real talk

Real fucking Madrid coming to Toronto to play TFC....
On a grass pitch! @ BMO field!.....
Finally a big name european club coming to BMO....

Okay there's a catch.

To make this happen, we need to move a fixture from august to next week... I know you had planned your summer around the schedule to. Not miss a game, but c'mon its Madrid.

Sure we didn't have a game moved last season because of the amount of players on int'l duty.... Buuuuut chivas isn't the 9 time european champions.

Oh ya.... That int friendly you bought with your season tickets, well. Its gonna cost a lot to bring madrid here, so we need you to fork out some $. NOW. Oh you'll still get a friendly, but not vs Madrid.

And yes, you heard me right! GRASS @ BMO. But only for this game, Madrid won't play on that dreaded turf....

Sound a little fucked up? Ya so do about 90% of the supporters.

The decisions made to bring Madrid to Toronto did not sit well with many.... Add this to the growing number of issues with the tfc fo, and massive league losses to houston, LA and a Voyageurs cup loss to the Whitecaps, you have the shit hitting the fan.

In what should be a celebration of the Beautiful game making it big in the hockey crazed city, we have a team/ supporter termoil.

Despite it all, I will be at the Madrid / TFC friendly to see my 2 fav teams ina match only previously seen in Fifa 2008. But among the many in white, I will be there to support the reds, like I alway have and always will.
