much easier said than done

So, like many people, I just tuned into the state of the union address. With many US Networks carrying this, it left not much to watch on TV, Unless you are a sports fan.

The State of the Union is what you think it may be, An hour long or so speech on whats good in the US of A. Every year its the same shit, help the middle class, bring our soldiers home, hold the government accountable, etc etc.

In one ear, out the other.

With Obama its different. When he speaks, you listen, you want to believe things will happen. "yes we can", "Change" and all the other Obamaisms, come back and all of a sudden things ain't looking so bad.

But...

Reality has set in, President Obama had come into Office with lots of hype, and you could even say that he too, was starting to believe in his hype, and January 2009 brought a lot of hope for change, and positivity, however even Obama realized that the task at hand, even for him, will take time and effort.

You have to admire his determination, to get things done, to make government work together, to make a difference.

Year 2 of the Obama administration has just begun, with a lot of over promising and under delivering, heres hoping that 2010 has Obama under promise and over deliver, and the 2011 State of the Union address will be more of a "I told ya so" type of thing.

those tiny onions

Don't you just love the little things in life? Those tiny onions in the gravy uncle phil loves so much at thanksgiving and christmas, the smell of coffee first thing in the morning, the look of the sun reflecting on the lake as it rises.

Every now and then I'm sure we all take a second and just enjoy that moment. Walking down a street, eating a delicious steak, enjoying drinks with friends.

People dream of fame and fortune and how money can fix life's problems, or what kind of car they can drive. Its nice and all, but don't forget to enjoy that ice cream you bought with the extra change you found doing laundry, or enjoying a summer breeze as you cruise in your toyota corolla.

life in toronto especially can be hectic, long hours at work, a long commute, running errands all weekend... everyones gotta be somewhere now. Being eight days into the new year, I propose that we all take the time to enjoy the little things this year. I think that by doing this, we can start to improve our life as well as those around us.

Now, who is up for some of them tiny onions ?
